Workshop Overview

Many therapists have felt burnout at some time in their professional lives. But what about when your life revolves around a chronic illness or health condition? Every day, you take inventory of your energy budget to figure out exactly what you can get done. Pushing your body too far can seriously negatively impact your personal life and health.

We tend to think of our chronic stress and illness as problems we can solve with smaller caseloads, more time off, or better self-care. Applying band-aid solutions to a frazzled brain and body isn't enough. To solve this problem, you'll need to develop a strategy that ends the cycle of feeling overwhelmed and exhausted.

This workshop aims to help you build a stronger foundation of simple, streamlined, repeatable workflows that sustain you as your practice evolves and grows. You'll learn how to stay in control of your business, ease your burden of overwhelm, and restore your passion for your work.

You started your business to have more freedom. Let's help you find it!

I'll help you identify the costs of outdated and ineffective policies and procedures.

You'll learn how to develop clear action steps for designing or upgrading systems and workflows that align with your values and your definition of success.

I will provide several examples of innovative systems that have saved me loads of time, money, and energy. These systems will also help you serve your clients better in the process.

This workshop will be recorded and available for 30 days following the event.

YOU WILL BE ABLE TO

  1. Design a burnout-proof policy and procedure infrastructure for your organization

  2. Streamline your day-to-day administrative processes

  3. Develop a harmonious and efficient work environment

  4. Apply innovative strategies to gain more control over common private practice activities

  5. List the four steps for implementing a policy change in your private practice

Emily Whitish is a licensed mental health counselor with a private practice in Gig Harbor, WA. She holds a master's degree in Counseling from Seattle University and a bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Washington.

Emily provides therapy for people navigating health, disease, and their relationship with their body. Her clinical work is grounded in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). Her work is also informed by social justice, feminist theory, intuitive and mindful eating teachings, self-compassion theory, mindfulness-based approaches, as well as principles of the Healthy at Every Size® model. Emily also provides ACT clinical consultation to licensed therapists and coaches.

Emily believes that her clients are the experts on their lives. She is passionate about helping them reclaim their personal power, be their own advocates, and develop a wide range of freely-chosen behaviors.

Emily's entrepreneurial journey wasn't always as smooth sailing as it is today. Less than two years after starting her private practice, Emily was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. Chronic illness unearthed every unworkable aspect of her life. As she explored her changing relationship with her identity, health, illness, and body, she also took stops to make her practice work for her (not the other way around). As she dove into what success means to her, and only her, Emily created systems that helped her find the balance she needed to support her health and do the work she loves. She has had many moments of pivoting in her business. Still, Emily has always given herself permission to design workflows and policies on her terms – even when they're unconventional or raise some eyebrows amongst her colleagues. While she no longer offers formal business consultation, she loves to mentor and support therapists in building better businesses.

You can also find Emily over at High Five Design Co., where she helps private practice therapists take their websites and digital marketing strategy out of the stone age with a full suite of beautifully designed marketing products. She offers websites, logos, copywriting guides, and social media templates.
